HOST A MELANOMA AWARENESS BOOTH

If you enjoy interacting with people on a face to face level, enjoy fresh air and love meeting new people…. this is a great volunteer opportunity for you!

“WHAT CAN I DO?”

Our “BOOTH-IN-A-BOX” allows volunteers to host a booth in a public setting to display/distribute materials to the community. Our bright marketing materials are eye catching and make people curious as to what “Start Seeing Melanoma” means. Grab a friend or a family member and get creative! Once your event is over, you send the booth-in-a-box back to us and voila!

“THAT SOUNDS EASY! WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE BOOTH-IN-A-BOX?”

We will mail volunteers a large crate box with a table cloth/banner, printed materials for display, different goodies to give away as well as a standard packet of pre-selected materials. We will also include a return shipping later for your convenience.

CAN I SELECT MY OWN MATERIALS TO DISPLAY?

Please browse our online materials gallery to see what options are available to you. Once you have selected your desired materials, you can choose from the options below on how to receive your materials:

  • You can either save/print the documents and print at home by visiting our online gallery of materials (http://bit.ly/2SH7idh)

OR

  • Submit a request for physical materials by emailing waronmelanoma@ohsu.edu. Shipping physical materials may be possible based on our availability of resources.

We ask all our volunteers to please TRACK YOUR OUTREACH. This is helpful to us to see what efforts are being done to get the word out and see which areas are being targeted. Not only do you get a record of your volunteer efforts but it helps us collect much needed data for research purposes to ensure this campaign thrives!

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

We are looking for volunteers to go out into their communities and distribute various types of materials to the public. This can be something you can do while on a walk in the morning, on the way to work, on campus at school or at a fun event! The more we can blanket the city and our communities with the message to CHECK YOUR SKIN, the better!

  • Saturday/Sunday farmers markets
  • Student posting boards and public bulletin boards

  • Ask a school’s PTA to distribute materials

SHARE MATERIALS ON SOCIAL MEDIA!

Each and every one of you have a social network, people that you have the ability to positively influence with this campaign. You can let them know that they need to look at their skin and the skin of their loved ones and do something if they see something abnormal.

WHAT CAN I DO?

Be a social advocate for our melanoma early detection campaign! We are asking our volunteers to use this powerful tool to share our materials and encourage their friends and families to CHECK THEIR SKIN.

We hope that with the power of social media and some creativity, we can spread the word to everyone in our community. You could save a life with one simple post and that is a wonderful thing. You never know who needs to see it!

THAT SOUNDS EASY! WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU OFFER OR CAN I USE?

We offer a variety of social media posts from our public health campaign (www.startseeingmelanoma.com) that you can browse through and choose which message you’d like to deliver. However, we encourage you to also create your own content! Record a video of yourself asking people to check their skin or record a video/take pics of you checking your skin. Get creative, the sky is the limit!
